The hazard

Christmas trees advertised before Dec. 21, 2010 as indoor/outdoor were supplied with extension cords rated for indoor use only, posing an electrical shock hazard if used outside.

What to do

Consumers should immediately stop using this product outdoors. If this product has been used exclusively indoors, consumers may continue to use it indoors. If consumers have used the tree outdoors or wish to use the tree outdoors, they must contact Balsam Hill to receive a free retrofit kit containing an outdoor extension cord.
